Sisterland - Curtis Sittenfeld
My sisters are twins, so reading about twins is pretty fascinating for me (are they going to be as freaky as my siblings? etc.). My sisters aren’t psychic though. They couldn’t predict an earthquake, even if they wanted to.
Unlike Kate and Violet. Alike and yet not, they are spun from the same fibres but race in opposite directions when it comes to the choices they make about whether to fit in or not. When Vi disregards Kate’s ingrained need to fade into the background by announcing an earthquake will hit their town - on TV no less - the fabric of their lives starts to ripple dangerously.
Gripping and written with such precision it is seamless; stories and moments in time slip easily against each other - it’s magnificent.
